I apologise for choosing not to correct capitalisation on words, I've left it as I wrote it in notepad, because it's written as I listened. I think correcting it makes it less connected with the inspiration triggers.

ah, what a great and refreshing clean acoustic guitar tone!
then Mackenzie starts singing, this is well recorded & he is a great singer.
the song is written from a first person perspective.
The way he sings, and i've heard him sing other songs, has a very special way of expressing emotion.
his vocals are always clean and not raspy. Some singers have a raspy voice & that's not a bad thing, but i'm just observing the way Mackenzie sounds.
His voice is a bit like Sting.
The style he sings with (and i say 'with', not 'sings in', because he isn't singing this way to be something he's not, he is singing from the heart, just being himself) reminds me of Kings Of Leon.
It's wonderful to hear, the way he plays guitar also carries the same 'direct from the heart' projection quality.
there aren't many effects on his vocals, maybe the normal amount of compression for a standard vocal recording, and some light reverb. that's it.
the rest is, pure human emotion & tonality.
you know, it's just a guitar & a vocal. But it feels like hearing a band & a choir.
okay, so that's 'Fit For A king', definitely worth a listen in my opinion.
I don't fully understand what the song is about on the first listen, but that's how it usually is for me. Especially when you're writing a song analysis! My thoughts are more about how the music sounds. I will listen to it again & tell you what he's singing about.
Alright, what's he singing about?
happiness
feeling blue & sad
having no money
hated - geez, i can relate to that.
heartbreak
romance fails
burn house to the ground
dance to the fire sound
sight fit for a king
listen to my heart & how it rings "oh"
amazing!
cigarettes in the rain
get high, go dancing with friends
watch the sun rise
worry about friends
get rid of things you don't need & simpify your life
chill out & enjoy the simple things to be happy about
thinking positively to overcome adversity
brilliant guitar solo - there's always hope
"maybe one day i'll know"
the pursuit of happiness
it's here with us right now if we just realise it
no need to chase things to find happiness
the difference between the dog & the owner, the owner is sad because it has all these desires, the dog is happy that it has it's owner.
Maybe one day we'll know!
You know, the, only thing to be sad about, is we never know what we've got until it's gone.
Mackenzie is an exceptional songwriter!
It flows so naturally, but if you've ever tried to put pen to paper & write a song, it isn't so easy to express yourself so directly.
He's done a brilliant job here.
Personally I think he could TEACH songwriting.

His music could be described with a single word: authentic.
