From what I’ve gathered, there is something valuable in MonkingMe’s system.
First of all, to understand them consider them as a competitor to Spotify.
From the peprspective of a listener, nobody enjoys watching ads to every song on YouTube, but if you want to download a song, watching an advertisement is a way of helping the artist get paid without having to spend money yourself. Listeners generally don’t want to spend money easily, but they don’t mind supporting the artists they like most, in some way. Advertisement is a great way to do that, and if it is occasionally, it is much easier for a listener to make that compromise.
For that reason, I think MonkingMe is a great idea.

What is MonkingMe's aim?

What's the difference with other streaming platforms?
Every streaming platform such as Spotify or Deezer limit the reproduction, or they play annoying video advertisements to stimulate the user to get a premium account, we don't. MonkingMe users have unlimited access to listen to all contents and sync their downloads to then play them offline on their phones.
Why will people want to download a song?
Because that way you can sync it with your mobile App to play it offline when and wherever you want, no restrictions. Besides, most people download songs to their computers because they want to keep them or they already have playlists arranged with other software.
Will piracy actually decrease?
Definitely, yes! We offer a system that's totally free and profitable for artists. We propose a model that monetizes the downloads made by users who will never pay for a premium account and who right now, get their music in an illegal way. The key to erase piracy permanently is not to try banning it, but to make it unnecessary.
Are free downloads really profitable?
Yes, we call it Free Paid Downloads. When a user wants to download a song, they will first watch a short advertising video before said download and the money obtained from the advertisement will be destined 100% to the artist's profit.
How much do artists earn for each Free Paid Download?
Actual streaming benefits offer 0,007€ for each reproduction. We offer 0,04€ for each download, which means that, if I am an artist who's song has been played 1000 times, with just 30% downloads I'd already gain 70% more than with the current system.

Are there any other options for the artists when uploading their songs?
Yes. At MonkingMe there aren't only Free Paid Downloads. The artist will also be able to upload songs that are totally free with no advertisement, but they won't benefit from it directly, economically speaking.
Why would an artist choose for their music to be downloaded without advertisements?
A lot of artists have come to the conclusion that it's more important to be known in order to increase their fans and to get more income from concert tickets and merchandising items. This option is the best way to do it, because instead of watching an ad, users will have information about concerts and more from their favourite artists before the download. Plus, artists with Premium accounts will be able to choose the advertisement they want. Also, users won't need to be registered to download the song because no control mechanisms will be required, thus giving more publicity to the artists work.
How does MonkingMe make money?
MonkingMe will make money by collecting a percentage of the profits made by concert tickets and merchandising items sales. We will also offer services to artists or record labels, so they can advertise themselves through our recommendation system and promotional spaces.

That’s great, because who doesn’t want to listen to their favourite songs when away from the computer? Going for a jog? You need your favourite songs to help with motivation & focus.

You can see artist's concerts and merchandising. We can notify you when your favourite artists come to your city so you won’t miss a concert again.
From the perspective of an artist, this is good because the artist does not have to use a separate concert management tool like Songkick to notify fans of events. The listeners benefit too, because they get to find out about events without having to leave the MonkingMe area where they may have just discovered a new artist they like. Listeners would usually have to go elsewhere to investigate the events & shows their favourite artists will be performing at.

MonkingMe is the solution artists were looking for to spread their music and increase their revenues.
MonkingMe definitely sounds like a step up from just using SoundCloud to share music to new potential fans, also solves the problems of advertising found in Spotify & YouTube, and also covers the Songkick situation. the other sites I have mentioned are great sites for their various uses, but I am now starting to understand the benefit of an artist utilising MonkingMe’s features.
