xylophone intro backed up by acoustic guitars then electric piano lots of oriental percussion and bass
sounds like a beautiful mix of instruments the main vocal sounds like a young child. it gives a delicate but heartfelt sound to the song.
there are robotic effect sounding harmonies. this song is very unique.
the reason it sounds robotic is because it is built from two notes, the root and the dominant. this creates a drone.
it is consistently the same notes.
an android type character would be programmed to speak but have no need to vary pitch when emulating human speech, so this is a typical way to imitate robotic speech, no pitch variation. very intelligent method.
it sounds vocoded also, this adds to that robotic feel.
There is also a glockenspiel sounding chime instrument but i think it's electronic (a synth) not a live instrument due to the lack of reverb on it.
This song is so unique, i wish i had made it lol. I have never heard anything like it before.
Claps back up the 6/8 rhythm, with a spinning / guiro-type percussion instrument on the 5th beat of the phrase.
It is quite a jazzy piece but has a very acoustic and electronica mix.
The scale is inrtiguing; they only seem to be singing a maximum of 5 notes. this is likely a pentatonic scale basis, typical of oriental music.
Having a child's voice sound robotic implies an organic type of cyborg character, because if it was a purely mechanical being it could be built as an adult. Organic would suggest the character has a way to grow - a metaphor for artificial intelligence and learning machines.
What an amazing song! This will definitely influence my future work.
Thanks to Hong Y for showing it to me.
