nice mixing, drums & 'spy guitars' (you know the type of amp cabinet i mean! i hope...)
quite an uptempo track
minor key, i love the way the main guitar line jumps to the 9th of the scale, has quite a mysterious and energetic tone & feel.
this song actually starts with a guitar solo!
Great vocals come in.
They remind me of Guns n Roses/Alice Cooper.
The chorus has brass instruments (possibly a saxophone)
The 1:24 post chorus break goes into a more tom drum section and this creates a nice variation to the main part of the song.
1:57 has a very melodically developed chorus, in that it is musically different to the verse.
It moves through chords at a more rapid pace, it contains stops where the vocals chant "i'm feeling good today!" at the end of the phrase
The whole song is full of energy and musical variety.
The guitar layers work well together with the drums bass & vocals.
The use of brass instruments colour this song uniquely.
I think 9/10 is the correct score for me to give, as I feel there is something very specific missing. The only suggestion I would make is using a different amp cabinet for the rhythm guitar, to make the lead guitar stand out more, and possibly have it panned separate to the rhythm guitar.
Just allowing them to take alternate lanes would fill the frequencies that seem to be missing in the mid range, but this is just my opinion!
I do like the song though. I am not a guitarist so much respect to the guitarist's skill in playing. Starting with a solo is quite amazing really.
They are just two people but they have created so many layers, it really sounds like an army of musicians!
There are some good harmonies to complete the vocal lines.
The song is well written with lots of creative structural ideas, and subtle, well mixed vocal effects.
I'd like to give them a higher score, but I see their potential and I believe they are capable of reaching an even higher level with just a few audio engineering tweaks!
But musically, they are a force to be reckoned with
